16-year-old Scarlet Grace is not only a talented actress, but she can also sing. She was born in the UK, but she spends her time both in the UK and the U.S. Scarlet is in the new movie “Holmes & Watson.” Continue to read on and learn more about her, her new film and what advice she would give teens these days.
Relate: Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got your start acting?
Scarlet: I’m a 16 year old actress based in the UK and in the U.S. and I love anything to do with acting, singing and dancing; it’s practically my life! I even attend a full time Drama School in London, which I travel to everyday to study drama, film studies, photography, and all basic core subjects! Most of my family have been in the entertainment industry for many years now, with my mum acting as a child, and my grandma running her stage and dance school classes which I attend! I started dancing when I was 5 years old, progressing onto acting classes with my best friend! I developed a love for it, and I’ve done it ever since, being fortunate enough to land myself a few roles too!
R: Tell us about your new movie, “Holmes & Watson” and about your character, Pickle.
S: Holmes and Watson is a comedic take on Sherlock Holmes! Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly play the iconic duo, using their brilliant minds to stop the evil genius James Moriarty from assassinating the Queen of England!
Pickle is such a fun part to play due to how cheeky and mischievous she is! She’s also such a challenging role to take on which is the best part about her! Pickle’s personality is quite different to mine, due to the era in which the film is set and her role in society at the time, enabling me to experiment with her as a character and play her in my own way! I’m so excited for the film to be released!
R: What was the audition process like? How and where did you find out that you got the part?
S: I auditioned for the role back in November of 2016. I went on three auditions before meeting the director Etan Cohen! The moment I found out I had landed the role I was over the moon! Everything happened so fast after this, and only a couple of weeks after I found out, I was sat at Shepperton Studios doing a script read through next to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
R: What was your favorite part about filming this movie?
S: My favorite part about filming was definitely being able to work alongside an incredible cast and crew. Everyone on set was honestly so nice, and I know that I’ve made some life-long friends! The set was constantly filled with laughter, we all had so much fun and created lots of memories together!
R: You got to working with a wonderful cast. Did any of them give you advice, if so what was it?
S: YES! I have been so fortunate to work with an outstanding cast. I can’t really say I was given any specific advice that I can think of. Maybe the odd nod and comment to help with the scene in which we were filming helped but nothing springs to mind.
R: Do you have any other up and coming projects that you would like to talk about?
S: I have a few things on the horizon at the moment, which I’m waiting to hear back on! I can’t name anything at this moment in time, so you guys will just have to wait and see!
R: What would your dream role be?
S: Since working in theatre and film, I would love to take aspects from both and star in a musical made into a film! I love films such as La La Land and Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, so I would love to be in a film where I can sing, dance and act all in one! I also love recording voiceovers, so I would really like to be the voice of a character in an animation film like Trolls!
R: I read that you sing. Have you thought about recording music?
S: I recorded a few songs a couple of years ago! I think at the moment I’d like to focus more on my acting, but I would definitely like to write my own songs and record them one day in the future!
R: If you could set down with any five actress/ actors and singers, who would they be and what you would to talk about?
S: I would love to sit down and have a chat with Lily James, Hailee Steinfield, Jessica Chastain, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Holland! They are all such inspiring actors and actresses! I think we would probably talk about funny moments on set that we’ve all had, and auditions gone wrong! It would be quite a funny and relaxed conversation I think!
R: What was the last movie you saw and what did you think about it?
S: The most recent film I watched was Good Will Hunting! The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio and it was absolutely incredible! I think the film was powerful and outstanding! I would definitely recommend everyone to watch it!
R: What are your future goals?
S: My future goals are to keep working hard, having a positive outlook in life and following my dreams!
R: What are five things people may not know about you?
S: Five things people may not know about me are…..
I have two dogs that I can’t live without! ☺
I spend my time living between the U.K and the U.S!
My favorite shows are Wicked and Legally Blonde!
My first audition EVER was for Shrek the Musical in London.
Last of all, I love to go SKIING!!
R: It is not easy being a teen. What advice would you give them in general?
S: It certainly isn’t! My advice to other teens would be to follow your dreams!
If you really want something then with the right attitude you can work your way up to it and achieve those dreams! It is ok to step out of your comfort zones! Try new things! Sometimes you’ll discover that you love something which you never thought possible!
R: Are you on any social networking sites? If so, which one and what are their addresses? Do you have an official website and/or YouTube page?
S: Yes! My official website is https://www.scarlet-grace.com
